Run and not be Weary

Okay, after a few days of thinking and praying, I think I know what direction I want to take my first week out. So, my goals for this coming week are:

1. Re-read the word of wisdom, this time paying attention to the verses that aren't the most commonly quoted. There's a lot about health in there. I want to pray about this scripture and what the best way to implement it into my life in ways that I have not done in the past.

2. Do some form of exercise for 30 mins., 4 days this week.

3. Try practicing moderation in my portions sizes and snack smart (healthy)

4. Pray often for guidance, inspiration and control.

I'll report back with my goal progress in a week! Feel free to join me, it's more fun with friends!

Day One - I've made a breakthrough

I've made a breakthrough! I know I need to lose weight, have known it for a long time as I watched my body balloon out of control. It's not just that I want to look better......who doesn't? I want to feel better! I want to "run and not be weary, walk and not be faint". I've tried to do this on my own many times over the years. I want to succeed, not just try. Then I thought back to how I managed to quit smoking. I quit smoking during one of the most stressful times of my life. I knew that if I could quit during those times, I would never start again due to stress. But what helped to to quit was that I knew Heavenly Father wanted me to. My body is a temple. We read those words numerous times in the scriptures. If I could quit smoking during times of high stress with a little help from above, what pride was keeping me from doing the same thing with my weight? God wants me to succeed. He wants me to treat my body like a temple. It's time I humbled myself, and overcame my natural tendencies in order to follow God's commands. I will depend a lot on prayer to help me. Sort of my own 12 step program..... This blog will be my weekly, sometimes daily accountability. Currently my weight is at 250lbs. Wow....now it's out there! So this will be one "Mormon" girl's journey to lose weight and become healthy. I hope with prayer, scripture study and some accountability I will be on the way to my goal. What is my goal? Not a weight, but health. (Well, I would like to weight 170lb....I'm tall). So here is my first scripture for the week.

1 Cor 9:24-27
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the amastery is btemperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible ccrown; but we an dincorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I akeep under my bbody, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

So here's to bringing my body into subjection! Here's how I hope this blog will go:
1. A spiritual thought or scripture to inspire.
2. Report on last week's goals
3. What the coming week's goals are.
4. Actions I intend to take
5. Current weight.

See ya next week.......
